The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and Lennox Industries Address Issues of Asthma and Allergy Awareness and Management A vast majority of Americans do not fully understand how in air can negatively affect their health. To better educate consumers about the importance of in air quality, leading air conditioning and heating manufacturer Lennox Industries has entered into an educational cooperative agreement with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). The agreement is focused on increasing public awareness of a little-understood health concern. As a patient organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with asthma and allergies, AAFA recommends controlling air quality in the home as an effective method to reduce allergy and asthma symptoms. "AAFA hopes through our educational agreement with Lennox, we will increase awareness of allergies and asthma and the role environmental factors, such as in air quality, play in proper management of these chronic and sometimes deadly illnesses,” states Bill McLin, Executive Director of AAFA. "The goal through our agreement with AAFA is to increase consumer awareness about the importance of in air quality,” said Tom Overs, product marketing manager of Lennox Industries. The cooperative agreement will include awareness and education of In Air Quality (IAQ) for consumers. Health care providers—including doctors and nurses—will be targeted to assist in informing consumers in this educational campaign. “A big component of the Lennox-AAFA agreement is education for consumers,” said Tom Overs. “AAFA is known for their advocacy of research and education of allergies and asthma. Now Lennox will apply the expertise available through AAFA to better educate consumers on the harmful effects of poor in air quality on individuals and families.” One of Lennox’ newest products, the PureAirTM air purification system, cleans the air in the home better than any other system that can be purchased today, according to independent test results. The success of the PureAirTM system has already been proven through field trials in existing and new homes, according to company representatives. In a 24-hour period, the toxin levels dropped in every home tested by approximately 50 percent. In addition to the PureAirTM air purification system, Lennox Industries has a complete line of IAQ products branded under the Healthy ClimateTM name to meet the complete comfort and in air quality needs of the consumer. The Healthy ClimateTM family of products includes electronic air cleaners, whole-house humidifiers, high efficiency 1-inch pleated filters, high-efficiency media air cleaners, and germicidal lights. We have set ourselves apart by being innovative, by designing and testing products to the highest standards, and by helping to create healthier home environments,” said Overs. “The AAFA relationship shows Lennox’ commitment to healthy in air quality for consumers.” "AAFA supports Lennox Industries’ technical innovations with respect to promoting healthier in air with its Healthy ClimateTM line of products,” said Anthony Montanaro, M.D., chair, AAFA Medical Advisory Committee. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America recommends controlling the air quality in your home as an effective method to reduce allergy and asthma symptoms. AAFA experts have reviewed Lennox’ PureAir™ system and found that it helps improve in air quality. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) is the premier patient organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with asthma and allergies and their caregivers, through education, advocacy, and research. AAFA, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1953, provides practical information, community based services, support, and referrals through a national network of chapters and educational support groups. AAFA also sponsors research toward better treatments and a cure for asthma and allergic diseases. For more information on asthma and allergies, contact AAFA at 1-800-7-ASTHMA. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America does not endorse any commercial products.
