What To Do When the Heat Goes Out03/08/2017Call it Murphy’s Law, or maybe just a little misfortune, but we sometimes see heat pump problems in Bossier City during the colder seasons, when they’re required to keep you warm. While you know the team at Central Aire Heating & A/C Inc will forever be there ASAP when you need us for a heat pump repair, there are some things you can do to confirm that a repair is necessary and save yourself some cash if it’s not. We’ve gathered this checklist of things to test before you give us a call. It may sound silly, but make sure everything is set to “on”. We’ve been to more than a few calls only to discover the thermostat or the heat pump itself is switched off. Inspect your thermostat to guarantee it’s on, fixed to the correct temperature and isn’t switched to cool. Then try replacing the battery, if it has one. If everything looks accurate, check your furnace switch (check your manual if you’re not sure where it is) and check your fuses and circuit breaker. Double check that your gas is on. If the furnace still hasn’t switched on, return to your thermostat. If it’s a programmable model, make certain that it’s displaying the proper time. If it thinks it’s morning when it’s really night, it may not turn your heat on because it doesn’t understand that you’re home. Is an obstruction causing your furnace to fail? Inspect your air filters to confirm they’re not clogging things up. Do you have any blocked ducts, vents or cool air entries? Are all supply registers accessible? Is your exhaust flue open? If you’ve worked through this checklist and you’re still deprived of heat, call Central Aire Heating & A/C Inc at 318-747-4965 or arrange an appointment online and we’ll get your home back to the warm and cozy place it should be.
